VPN96 Connection Setup
Set up your account and subscription, then import them into your client in the order you’ll use them.
For your first setup, configure your account and plan in the user dashboard, then import your subscription into the client on your device. This guide focuses on the essential steps. For route types, billing details, and tips for long-term use, see the Plan Selection Guide.
Create an Account and Open the Dashboard
Use the link below and follow the on-screen instructions to choose a username and password. VPN96 doesn’t require an email address—a username and password are all you need to create an account. Before submitting, check your username and save your login details in a trusted password manager. Once your account is set up, manage your plan, subscription, client downloads, and support tickets from the same dashboard.
Already have an account? Use the “Log in” link in the page header instead of creating another one. Once you’re in the dashboard, make sure you’re using the account you intend to use before choosing a plan. If your browser saves multiple accounts, check which one is currently signed in to avoid having your payment and subscription split across accounts.
This guide and the user dashboard are separate pages. It’s normal to see a login or account page after following the link. Once you’ve finished, return here to continue. You don’t need to change any other settings yet—just sign in, then go to the Plans section.
Choose a Plan and Review the Billing Terms
Go to the Plans section in the user dashboard and choose a monthly subscription or data plan based on how often you’ll use the service. Monthly plans include ¥9.9/month for 60GB, ¥18/month for 250GB, and ¥28/month for 500GB. Data resets monthly on your plan’s start date. If you use the service regularly and want a monthly data allowance, compare the monthly plans by data allowance, not just by price.
If your usage varies, compare the one-time data plans: ¥158 for 300GB, ¥358 for 1000GB, and ¥658 for 3000GB. Data remains available until used and never expires. Unlike a monthly subscription, a data plan doesn’t automatically refill each month. If you’re unsure which option suits you, read the full pricing and billing details before choosing a plan in the dashboard.
On the order confirmation page, check the plan name, amount, and billing terms. Pay with Alipay, WeChat Pay, or USDT using the options shown. After payment, return to the dashboard to check your order and plan status. If the status hasn’t updated yet, check the existing order rather than submitting another payment. Confirm payment using both the payment result and the order status in the dashboard.
VPN96 supports unlimited simultaneous devices and offers a 60-day no-questions-asked refund policy. If you upgrade a monthly subscription, the price difference is converted into remaining days. Check the result shown in the dashboard before proceeding. To request a refund or resolve an order issue, submit a ticket in the dashboard. See the Terms of Service for details.
Get Your Subscription from the Overview
Once your plan status is confirmed, open the account overview in the user dashboard and find the subscription section. A subscription isn’t a regular webpage to open in a browser—it gives your client access to routes and configuration. To import manually, copy the subscription link from the dashboard. If the dashboard offers an import option for your client, follow its instructions to open the client.
Before using a link or import option, check which client format it supports. Different clients may require different configuration formats, so don’t assume that links called “subscription links” are interchangeable. If you haven’t installed a client yet, leave the dashboard open, get the client for your platform in the next section, then return to copy or import the link.
When copying the link manually, use the dashboard’s copy option to avoid missing any characters at the end. When pasting it into your client, check for extra spaces or line breaks. You usually don’t need to open the subscription link in a browser, and you should never paste it into an unfamiliar online converter. That would expose account details meant only for your client to another service.
Keep your subscription link private, like any other account credential. Don’t share the full link in public screenshots, group chats, or tutorial comments. When reporting an issue, you can share the client name, operating system, error message, and steps you took. Hide the link and personal account details in screenshots first. If you think the link has been exposed, check whether the dashboard lets you reset it, or ask for help through a support ticket.
Install a Client and Import Your Subscription
For each platform, start with the VPN96 client and instructions provided in the user dashboard. If the dashboard lists compatible clients, choose one that supports your subscription format and can load remote configurations. Get both the client and subscription through the dashboard; this guide doesn’t provide static download links. After logging in, you can access the download section on Windows, macOS, Android, and Linux. The dashboard determines whether the iOS download option is available.
Before importing, disconnect any other VPN or proxy on your device that’s managing network traffic. This makes it easier to see which client is handling your connection. Installing the client before copying your subscription also helps avoid mistakes from switching between pages. The steps below explain where to find the relevant options; follow the dashboard instructions and the labels in your version of the client.
Windows: Load and Enable the Remote Configuration
Sign in to the dashboard and choose the Windows client in the download section. Install and open it as instructed. In the client, go to Configuration or Subscription and look for an option such as Import from Link or Add Subscription. Paste in the link from your account overview. If the client lets you name the configuration, choose a clear name so you can tell it apart from older ones.
Save the configuration and update it. Check that the route list appears, then select the configuration you just imported. Seeing its name doesn’t mean it’s active—you’ll also need to connect or enable the relevant system proxy setting as described by the client. Before granting system permissions, check which app is requesting them. If you’re unsure about a network control option, follow the client’s instructions rather than enabling multiple modes at once.
macOS: Check the Configuration and System Permissions
Choose the macOS client in the dashboard’s download section, install it, and open the app. Add the link under Configuration, Subscription, or Remote Configuration, then save and update it. Set the imported configuration as the one to use. If the dashboard offers to open the client for import, make sure macOS opens the app you intend to use, not another network tool you installed earlier.
When the client connects for the first time, macOS may ask you to confirm network settings or grant permissions. Check the app’s source and the prompt, then follow the client’s instructions to approve it. Return to the app, select a route, and connect. If your browsing experience hasn’t changed, check the selected configuration and connection toggle first. Don’t delete system network settings. For more troubleshooting, see the Help Center.
Android: Import Your Subscription and Allow the VPN Connection
Get the Android client from the user dashboard and install it as instructed. In the app, open the configuration list and choose Add Remote Configuration or Import from Link. Paste in your subscription, save it, and update the configuration. Return to the main screen and check that the configuration name is correct and the route list has loaded. Then choose a region and connect.
When Android asks to authorize a VPN connection, make sure the request came from the client you just installed, then allow it. Check the connection in your browser. If it works at first but disconnects when you switch to another app, check the app’s background activity and battery restrictions. There’s no need to change every battery setting upfront. For more detailed steps, see the Android Setup Guide for Beginners.
iOS: Get and Add the Configuration from the Dashboard
Check the iOS section of the user dashboard and follow the instructions provided to get a client. Access to the iOS download option depends on the dashboard’s eligibility check, so a download link may not be available for every account. If the page says you need an active plan, return to the Plans section and check your account status. Don’t look for installation links from unverified sources.
Open a client that supports your subscription format, then import the link under Subscription, Configuration, or Add Remote Configuration. If you use the dashboard’s import option, return to the app and check that the configuration has been saved and updated. When you connect for the first time, follow the iOS prompts to allow the VPN configuration and complete any required confirmations. Then return to the client, choose a route, connect, and check the service you want to use.
On Linux, get the client and instructions from the dashboard’s download section. Follow the same steps: add the remote configuration, update the subscription, select the configuration, and connect. When using multiple devices, import and authorize the configuration on each one. Unlimited devices doesn’t mean a configuration will automatically appear on other devices when you sign in.
Connect to a Route and Check It Works
Return to the client’s main screen. Check that the configuration you imported is selected and the route list isn’t empty, then choose a region that suits your needs. For your first setup, keep the recommended rule mode from the client’s instructions and connect. Avoid changing the route, proxy mode, and system network settings all at once. Otherwise, even if the connection starts working, it’ll be hard to tell which change made the difference.
After connecting, check that the client shows an active connection. If needed, confirm the VPN or proxy status in your device settings. Then open the website or app you want to use and check that pages load, sign-in works, and the features you need are available. The client’s connection indicator only confirms the local connection; it doesn’t guarantee that every feature of the target service is working.
If the connection is active but a website still won’t load, first make sure your device has internet access. Then refresh the page and check your selected configuration and route. If you need to try another route, leave the other settings unchanged and switch routes before testing again. Streaming services and AI tools may also depend on your account region, service availability, or platform policies, so don’t assume access based on the route’s region alone.
If importing fails, the configuration is empty, or the connection keeps dropping, note your operating system, client name, which step the problem occurred at, and the full error message. Hide your subscription link and sensitive account details before sharing any information. Then see Connection and Troubleshooting Help. If the issue persists, submit a support ticket in the user dashboard. You don’t need to share your full configuration to explain the problem.
